Let me tell you.

Every year when the BTMA nominees are announced there is a lot of excitement and bragging about their accomplishment, as all artist and performers in these categories are taken by surprised from inception when their names are presented in the voting list and consider for such category.

But very few actually knows how the process works. How the nominees are selected or how are the winners determined?

Let me walk you through this process.

But first we most ask who is the Bahamas TOP Music Awards?

The BTMA for its acronyms is a full program that includes events geared to create platforms for new and existent artists, workshops, youth preparatory competition and Award show to recognize, celebrate and take to the next level our artist and the sound of the Bahamas globally. The BTMA has over 30 categories in which includes all popular and traditional genres of music, albums, production, song writing, jingles, radio station, junkanoo groups, outreach and a lot more (for locals) as well as four more categories which are open for international submissions like Multicultural Latin, Gospel, Urban and Caribbean; each one of them with subcategories.
BTMA is all music and soul, and has recognized amazing talented and multi-awarded Bahamian and International artist.

And now that we have given you a short explanation of who the Bahamas TOP Music Award is, let’s get down to the process.

Every year submissions open for all management, public and artist to submit their material for the various categories, submissions are not restricted, once required information is entered.
When the BTMA submissions are completed, all submission entries from the voting categories, in addition with the references from the Music Committee are vetted and put forward to a public vote, where everyone can show their support for the best or in some categories like: People’s Choice, their favorite.
In the case of the Vocalist Categories:  The top four selected by the public will become nominees, once the voting is completed, the results will be reveiled and celebration starts.
After nominees are selected, they are required to showcase their talent live at our main event in front of the judges.

Why? You may ask.
The reason why we require our nominees from the vocalist category to showcase their talent live is for the complexity of the category and the capacity this category has to be compromised otherwise.
The Vocalist category will be judge for its technical capability which is: Pitch, Tone, Rhythm, Timing, etc.
These are skills that can be adjusted in studio recordings but at the moment of the artist performance they all will have the same management, with audio, engineer, sound, microphone… and with the above mention criteria a result for each nominee will be sealed and turned in to prepare the announcement of the Bahamas TOP Music Awards Female or Male Vocalist of the year in the Gospel and Mainstream Categories.

 

 

The other four voting categories are slightly different which are:

People’s Choice:
Favorite Dj
Favorite Radio Station
Rake and Scrape Power Entertainer
Radio Humanitarian

The public will speak through votes and the final result will be announced during the BTMA Ceremony reviling the winner for these categories.

In all 8 (eight) categories appear amazing artists and performers eligible for BTMA nomination and deservent of ultimately becoming award recipients.
